We live in a health care vacuum in this country. From crib to death Americans are marketed to in school, on the TV, in the newspaper, on the radio, and over the loud speaker in grocery stores.

If you don't know any better it appears that Advil, Motrin, Tylenol, Allegra, and other over the counter medications are your only option in health care. What if you have allergies to these medications?

Or better yet, what if you have come to the realization that medication does not address the underlying cause of your ill health but only treats the effects.

If you are looking for true health care that maximizes your bodies ability to function at its best, then you must look into the Blair upper cervical technique.

The Blair technique requires no medication, no side effects, no messaging from big Pharma, just honoring the bodies innate capacity to heal and repair.

Where does health come from? Over the counter medication or supporting normal nervous system function?

Health is an inside job. The bodies internal strength and resistance is paramount to resisting outside influences. Why does one family member get the flu and other family members stay well? Why do some women have severe PMS while other women do not?

Why does one sibling get allergies while the other does not? Unfortunately these questions are never asked in today's health care system. Most just go along with the system never questioning much.  For those that do, keep reading.

Health occurs when the body functions normally. Ill health occurs when the body is weakened due to decreases in normal function. Bare with me. We will answer most of the questions that are most likely floating around in your head and then introduce to you - what does a Blair upper cervical doctor do? But first let's talk about what controls function and health.

Then we will delve into how you can promote health naturally by maximizing nervous system function!

What controls function in the body and what can cause it to malfunction leading to dis-ease and I'll health?

The master controlling system in the body is the central nervous system. More specifically, the brain stem, located inside of the atlas(c1) and axis(C2) is the seat of control for almost all autonomic functions of the body.

The brain-stem is essentially like the Pentium chip in a computer. It houses all of the nuclei that control heart function, blood pressure regulation, postural muscle tone control and other functions that are not under your conscious control.

If this master system functions normally you are full of life, joy , happiness, energy, and health. However, if the nervous system is irritated or interfered with it can lead to loss of function, low energy, depression, anxiety, and a host of other health problems.

The head neck junction, known as the craniocervical junction (CCJ), is the most easily misaligned region of the spine. This results from the atlas (c1) carrying a 10-12 pound mass, your head. The CCJ is held together with muscles, ligaments , and soft tissue making it susceptible to spinal misalignment.

Whiplash injuries, slips and falls, sports trauma and other acceleration deceleration injuries can cause this region of the spine to displace , lose normal motion, and lead to brain-stem and spinal cord interference. Because the most vital centers of the body are located in the brain stem, structural irritation over time leads to a loss of function and health.

We have been taught to swallow Advil for headaches, take pamperin for menstrual cramps, Allegra for allergies, coffee for fatigue, and excedrine for migraines. We have never been educated or taught why these health problems start in the first place.

What we are suggesting to those of you reading this article is there is a much sounder approach to health than taking over the counter medications that only temporarily reduce symptoms. Treating symptoms and ignoring what may be their cause is NOT healthcare.

A more sound approach is to visit a Blair upper cervical chiropractor to ensure that your structure is sound so your nervous system can function optimally. Optimizing nervous system function allows you to recover lost function and health. In a moment, we will briefly introduce you to what a Blair upper cervical doctor does and how they can help you recovery your lost health.

But first, we would like to point out that we are NOT suggesting that all medications are bad. There are times and places where medications can save lives. They can also provide temporary relief from acute health problems.

However, if you are interested in long term health restoration, over the counter medication will NOT bring you long term health. Only restoring function through the removal of interferences to normal function will produce long lasting health.

What exactly does a Blair upper cervical chiropractor do?

Blair Upper Cervical doctors are specially trained to locate spinal misalignments in the upper cervical spine and correct them. Spinal misalignment is located by running a battery of neurological tests that locate the spinal segments that have been injured and misaligned by a prior neck Injury.

Once located, precision imaging in the form of digital x-ray or cone beam computed tomography (Cbct) are used to precisely determine which joint has misaligned and the angulation of the misaligned joint.

Each person’s anatomy is different and therefore imaging is used to uncover the blueprint to be used to correct each patient’s individual misalignment pattern. Once this information is gleaned, a gentle, light correction is made without twisting, popping, or pulling.

The patient is then monitored over time to ensure that the correction is holding. If the testing indicates the need for another correction, then it is performed. However, the goal of Blair Upper Cervical Care is for the patient to stay in “adjustment”. It isn’t the correction that produces healing. It is the removal of nerve irritation and the adjustment “holding” in its normal position that allows the body to function better and proceed through a healing process.
